This is an image from a new animated short that Miki Cash from Bath England and I produced and directed these past 18 months. We will be releasing it in the fall of 2013. It features a musical performance from Hoagy Carmichael. It's called "Ain't No Fish".

New Book

Focal Press has just released the book I wrote on pixilation, time-lapse and "downshooting." It's a look at these non-puppet stop-motion techniques with examples of my work along with other artists like PES, Blu, William Kentridge, Terry Gilliam and many more. I hope you enjoy the book and utilize these wonderful and accessible techniques.

Compositing the Sox and Yanks

This shot is an example for my Frame by Frame book of a composite that has matched lighting with the key light source coming from frame right. It just so happens that JP Crangle (a Yankees fan) can't stand being on the same platform as a Red Sox hat. The lighting matches but that's about it . . .

I went down to NYC for New Years and this is what I saw . . .

bear in the woods

My son, Ty, and I were hiking in the Berkshire Hills on Christmas day and saw a black bear on the side of a hill. It was trying to hide behind a small tree but you can see its big bear butt sticking out in this shot. After a moment of watching each other we all just headed off in the opposite direction.
